Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia Announces New Affordable Home Ownership Project in New Glasgow

Expression of interest form is now available for families interested in applying for homeownership through Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia

Dartmouth, NS – Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia is thrilled to announce the launch of a new home build project in the heart of New Glasgow. This initiative marks another significant step forward in the organization’s mission to provide safe, affordable housing for families throughout the province.

The new home build project, slated to begin in May, underscores Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia’s commitment to addressing the critical need for affordable housing in the province. Through the dedication of our volunteers, donors, and community partners, we will construct an affordable home that will not only provide shelter but also serve as a foundation for hope and stability for a deserving family.

“We are excited to embark on this journey to build a brighter future for a local family,” said Donna Williamson, Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia. “This project exemplifies the power of community coming together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We are deeply grateful for the support of our volunteers and partners who make our work possible.”

Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia invites members of the media and the community to join us for the official groundbreaking ceremony. This event will mark the beginning of construction and serve as a celebration of the collective effort to create positive change in our community. Invitations and a media alert will be issued prior to the event to provide detailed information about the date, time, and location.

For families interested in applying for homeownership through Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia, an expression of interest form is now available on our website at habitatns.ca/apply. This form is the first step in the application process, and we encourage eligible families to submit their information for consideration.

Calls for volunteers will be released soon, providing opportunities for individuals and groups to get involved and make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Additionally, local businesses are invited to explore sponsorship opportunities for the home build project, demonstrating their commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.
