The Pictou County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia is committed to collaborating with Habitat Nova Scotia to tackle the urgent need for affordable housing in our communities. Thanks to the unwavering support of volunteers and donors, Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia endeavors to make homeownership attainable for families not only in Pictou County but also across the province. To further this mission and tackle a new home build in New Glasgow in 2024, we are actively seeking new Chapter Members to join the Pictou County Chapter.

Our Chapter Steering Committee comprises community leaders with diverse backgrounds, including engineering, education, real estate, marketing, finance, social services, construction, and governance. This committee plays a pivotal role in facilitating local home construction projects and fundraising initiatives.

We are specifically looking for passionate individuals to join our Steering Committee, especially those with an interest in fundraising. Your involvement can significantly aid us in engaging local businesses to contribute toward the construction of a new Habitat home in New Glasgow, scheduled for 2024.

The shortage of affordable housing is a pressing issue in Nova Scotia, and Pictou County is no exception. For example, the overwhelming response to the Habitat home we built for the Williams Family in Stellarton in 2022—where over 80 applicants sought housing—underscores the gravity of the situation.

If you share our dedication to making a tangible impact on affordable housing and are interested in volunteering with the Pictou County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia, please reach out to Ed Kennedy at kennedyeda@gmail.com. Your support can help us build stronger, more inclusive communities.
