“We are motivated and energized by the stories of those we serve – the families whose lives are changed by the safe, healthy homes built by thousands of volunteers,”

At their eighteenth meeting on June 6, 2017, 100+ Women Who Care Halifax donated over $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia.  The quarterly meeting was held at the Centre for Family Business and Regional Prosperity at Dalhousie University School of Business.

“We are motivated and energized by the stories of those we serve – the families whose lives are changed by the safe, healthy homes built by thousands of volunteers,” says Marie-France LeBlanc, CEO, Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia.  “It was an honour to share a few of those stories with 100+ Women Who Care Halifax last night.  Thank you for helping us to quite literally put a roof over the heads of two new families in Spryfield.”

Three randomly selected nominated charities present at each meeting and members vote in a secret ballot which charity they would like to see receive over $10,000.  The three charities at the June 6 meeting were Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia, Halifax Regional Search & Rescue, and Hope for Wildlife.

“100+ Women is such a contagious movement,” says Colette Robicheau, co-founder and co-chair of 100 Women Who Care Halifax.  “Not only do our members donate $100 per quarter, they donate their time, too, asking about volunteer opportunities and other ways they can make a positive impact on the community.  We’re so grateful for everything they do.”

  • Habitat for Humanity will return to the group’s next meeting on September 5, 2017 to further update members on how they used their funds.
