After selecting Habitat NS as their annual corporate charity in early 2015, Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC), the assessment authority for Nova Scotia, has officially raised over $17,000 in support of affordable homeownership in Nova Scotia!
The independent, not-for-profit organization was very creative with their fundraising and a variety of activities to make one of the biggest contributions Habitat has received:
- Payroll deductions
- A laptop sale (staff were able to purchase older laptops no longer in use. All proceeds went to Habitat NS)
- In office 50/50 raffles
- Book sale
- Auctioning off items donated by staff and vendors
- Casual dress day donations
- Individual employee contributions
- A contribution from the corporation
Habitat would like to send a special Thank You to the PVSC staff and all their hard work on and off the build site. Without significant contributions like this, we would not be able to provide access to safe and affordable housing for families across Nova Scotia.
Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC) is an independent, not-for-profit organization funded by Nova Scotia’s 51 municipalities.
PVSC is responsible for valuing all real property in Nova Scotia, approximately 600,000 properties, on an annual basis. Each January, PVSC provides an assessment roll to municipalities, which is used to calculate property taxes, and delivers property assessment notices to every Nova Scotia property owner.
